YWCA Kauai Has Your Back, Ladies

I’ve been an advocate of YWCA Kauai for years and years.

There are so many reasons why the YWCA is such a natural fit for me to support. For starters, I know we’re aligned when our missions include the same goal - empowering women.

Diving deeper into the work of this nonprofit organization, it really resonates with me when I think about my childhood and Wahine Rising story.

YWCA Kauai provides resources, support, and advocacy for women in relationships and living situations of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The 24 Hour Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Hotline means that Kauai women are only one phone call away from safety. Text is also available during weekdays.

What I love most - their help is available both immediately as an emergency service, long-term, and everywhere in between.

Crisis intervention and counseling services are the bread and butter of this nonprofit. Licensed therapists and social work associates specialize in family and marriage counseling to help survivors process and move through the pain and trauma.

Always know that you’re not alone, these resources are available on Kauai. Abuse is not your fault, and not something to hold shame. For women in need of support, making a call to YWCA Kauai can be the first step to a future of health and wellness - and that is a powerful moment of transformation.

‘Wahine Rising’ Donates 10%

I’m so thrilled to announce that 10% of the proceeds from all Wahine Rising gear - hats, shirts, stickers - will benefit YWCA Kauai!

They have “helped women, children, and families in our community build safer and more self-sufficient lives,” since 1921. This organization needs support just as they give support.

Monetary donations help keep the lights on and sustain the professional support needed for Kauai women. They also accept goods - gift cards, toiletries, cosmetics, clothing, shoes - for the Family Violence Shelter. The donation Wish List can be found on their website.

It fills my heart with joy to know that ‘Wahine Rising’ will be contributing to an organization that truly cares for the community.
